Personality

Image
Alright, so today I took a personality assessment. I'd love to show you the results but first we need some explanation on what a personality assesment is and why we take them. A personality assessment is a test used to determine personal characteristics for diagnosing pyschological problems, assessing job candidates or simply out of personal intrest. Personality test can measure things such as feelings, emotional states or even how you approach your relationships.  So as you can see I took the Jung Typology Test. This test is based on Carl Jungs Personality theory. This test consisted of 64 question with 5 answer choices. The test has a total of 16 possible results along with some more precise percentages to show qualities such as extroversion or intuition. My results were as follows. ENFP EXTROVERT 41% ( I had a moderate preference of extroversion over introversion). INTUITIVE 22%  (I had a slight preference of intuition over s...

So doing this poster from class was actually kinda fun. It may not have been the best looking but "Hey, I tried and thats what matters right"? Looking at the different aspects of my life, I have seen some similarities in my life and some things I would like to change. Through my life I have been born, raised, and plan on staying in Abilene for the majority of my life. I have been and athlete since the beginning, I have learned how to compete, come out on top and to make friends in the process. I feel this will help me in my future as a nurse. My life has been centered around God, Family , and faith and I plan to keep this the same throughout. With God and the help of my family I have been consistently happy and I have been blessed with everything I need. Personally and emotionally there have been ups and down but I know with faith and persistence life with be with the hardships.                               ...

Developmental Psychology

Image
Alright guys, so today I'm going to be writing about Developmental Psychology. Instead of just explaining every little detail of my learning I am going to answer some questions based off my readings assigned to me. Before jumping in I just want to explain that these questions have come from articles over Developmental Psychology. According to  Dictionary.com  Developmental  Psychology is "the branch of psychology that studies psychological growth among individuals. It deals with psychological responses and changes that characterizes the different stages of life from infancy, adolescence to  old age." "The Developing Parent" 1.  R eflect on the way you were raised. Consider the parenting behaviors (e.g., rules, discipline strategies, warmth, and support) used in your household when you were a child. Why do you think your parents behaved this way? How do these factors fit with the influences on parenting  described here? Provide specific examples of...

Build your Brain!

https://youtu.be/LpqTJ22UFuE    Alright guys, so I decided to do the Build your Brain activity.  So obviously I needed someone under 10 and I had two options and two options only. My nephew Matias or my soon to be brother in law Jonah. Well if you saw the video I chose Jonah because my nephew is six and probably would have destroyed everything before we could start...LOL. So as we started I was still learning myself.  I picked up the information and began to try to teach it to Jonah; I believed he picked it up faster than I did. The further into the project we went, we were able to pick out individual sections of the brain and learned a few of their function functions. I even learned a few things from him. We didn't go into every little section or piece of the brain but as I was looking for models to base the project off of I learned about some of the parts that we didn't include in our model. For example, did you know that we have twelve cranial nerves ...

Sensation and Perception

The Five Senses 1. Touch 2. Smell 3. Sight 4. Hearing 5. Taste          In every part of our lives we are using these five physical senses to perceive the world around us. From listening to music, to eating the most gourmet of meals we are constantly taking in the physical world around us.  We sense our environment and the information is sent to our brains where we interpret what has taken place. Each of our sense organs such as our nose or eyes receive a stimulus that is then taken in as a neural transmission to the brain producing an image, taste, feeling, etc. https://www.bing.com/images/search Why do we perceive the way we do? Why is the sky blue, why do skunks smell bad? It is all up to our senses and the way we are perceiving this information. A couple of years ago there was an mesmerizing picture of a dress in which no one could agree on its color. For instance last semester my fiancĂ©e was reading her psychology book and found ...

Brain and Behavior

What is the Brain?         Of all the organs in the human body, the brain is one of the most largest and most complex. It is one that scientists have been trying to study and understand for years. Only recently have they been to really look inside and see what exactly is going on. Matthew Hoffman MD explains that "it is made up of more than 100 billion nerves that communicate in trillions of connections call synapses ." It functions off of so many separate specialized areas such as the cortex, the brain stem, the basal ganglia, and the cerebellum. The cortex , which is the most outer layer of the brain, controls our thinking and voluntary movements. However the involuntary movements, such as breathing or sleeping, is caused by the brain stem located between the spinal cord and the rest of the brain. The basal ganglia functions in clusters in the center of the brain and sends messages to other brain areas while the cerebellum , which is at the base and back ...
